What is the benefit of using a Yoga Block
Monday, April 21st, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feedyoga blocks are an accessory to yoga practice and are most useful when you want to hold a specific pose for a length of time. They are less usefull in vinyasas, or flow sequences, where they can get in the way of a series of movements. They are used to align the body properly, for example when you can’t touch the floor, this is unlike a yoga strap that are designed for maintaining a pose or to stretch muscles more effectively.
The blocks are used under the hands, feet, or seat to achieve proper alignment and deepen stretches safely for example
- Supporting the head while doing forward bends.
- Lifts in seated twists
- Cushioning in poses such as the shoulder stand
- Alleviate stress on the wrist joints during some poses, especially the “downward dog” pose
