Just starting out or a long term practitioner
a Yoga book can take your practice
further
Today you can
get a variety of yoga books on all the differing styles of yoga. They range from
understanding the philosophy of yoga and what yoga is, through to detailed instruction manuals.
A yoga books can also be good just to flick through for inspiration.
Many books can be a useful reference manual for asanas (postures). If you
prefer to practice at home a good yoga manual is essential. One of my favorites is "Ashtanga Yoga, The Practice Manual" by David Swenson
Please remember that practicing asanas beyond your level can be harmful. Start with the easy poses first and
gradually add the intermediate and advanced asanas as your body adjusts.
Some asanas must be approached with great caution. Be very careful if you decide to try those at home without a
teacher or friend to assist you
Yoga magazines such as Yoga Health or Yoga International can also be a useful
source of information, whether you are a beginner or an advanced student you will
find something relevant to you.
